Hey guys! So I was thinking, why does everyone always go to Starbucks? I mean, there has got to be another place just as great as Starbucks, maybe. There has always been that coffee shop on South Street. Why not give it a shot?
I went to that coffee shop -it's called It's A Grind- and I ordered the usual iced coffee, but I thought, let's get something sweet with my coffee. So I ordered the apple pie. OMG that apple pie was amazing. Honestly, normally I don't eat pie but this apple pie was amazing. It was not too sweet and it was just perfect. If you guys ever get the chance, it is one that such definitely be tried whether you like pie or not. But the coffee on the other hand, I don't think I ordered it correctly. It came out super bitter and even after adding about six packets of sugar, it barely got better. That's my take on It's A Grind. If you have been there before and you loved something there, comment it below because I would love to try new things.
If you want to try it, there's one on South St. Here's the address:
13295 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703
Hey guys so on Friday, it was my dearest friend's birthday and for her birthday, instead of getting her a card like I do every year, I decided to kick it up a notch. I went out and made her a red velvet cake with some help from my sister. This is actually the first time I have made a cake so it was really interesting. Since her birthday was yesterday, I did not want the cake to be bad so I decided to make it that morning. It was interesting. But it came out amazing. Here is the cake below.
On Saturday, I went to my other friend's birthday party. At first I thought it was going to be super small since in the group chat, almost everyone could not come and I thought it was only going to be this group of people. Boy was I wrong. It was a party for her friends and family. There was about 50 people there. It was super fun. We ate tacos from Holé Molé, I got to know some of her relatives, and we played games. By the way, the team I was on won the games. For the games, we had to eat food, blow up beach balls, sit on balloons, make the beach balls go into hula hoops, untie knots and put a puzzle together. It was honestly the best birthday party I've been to in a while. The prize was Sour Patch Kids, Crunch, Kit Kat, and a $10 Regal giftcard. I also got to keep a mason jar because I put my drink in there. I wish I took more pictures but here's what I have.
So if you guys are ever in a rush in the morning and you want a bagel and a cup of coffee to start the day, then Einstein Bros Bagel is the place to go. They make amazing bagels and there are so many different kinds of bagels. You can get a plain bagel with a cream cheese of your choice or a bagel sandwich. Along with a variety of different bagel combinations, you can get a cup of "darn good coffee." Recently, I went to get some breakfast at the Einstein Bros Bagel in Long Beach after getting a blood draw, and I got the Nova Lox on a toasted garlic bagel. My sister got The Herbivore on a plain bagel, and my dad got the Santa Fe with one egg. In the Nova Lox, I thought it was salty but it is really good. It has smoked salmon, raw red onions, a slice of tomato, and capers on a bagel with plain cream cheese. Since I got it on a garlic bagel, it was just a bit more salty but if you order it, make sure you have some gum after you eat. You will definitely have to freshen up after all the garlic and onions. If you want a bagel that's a bit cleaner, The Herbivore is perfect. It has cucumbers, tomatoes, and arugula on a bagel with garden vegetable cream cheese. When I ate it, it just felt so refreshing because it wasn't heavy and it had only vegetables hence the name. But if you want the classic McDonald McMuffin with a hint of spice, you should get the Santa Fe bagel sandwich. It has a sausage patty with cheese and a over-easy egg on a bagel with the jalapeño salsa cream cheese.
Well I hope that gave you a little more of an option for when you are going out for a breakfast run. If you guys have any suggestions for where I should eat next, just leave it in the comments. Thanks mucho.
Hey guys! I'm back with another food review and the place is called Albertaco's Mexican Food. "This Mexican eatery offers hearty portions of standard Tex-Mex fare with a convenient drive-thru." (Wikipedia)
My personal favorite is the California Burrito. It contains french fries, cheese, carne, and sour cream. It may sound fattening, but it's delicious. It will make you feel so full that you will not want to eat for hours. But I heard that another good one to try there is the Shrimp Burrito. It is said to be eaten and then you will be craving for more after the first one. And these burritos are not like the snack ones from Lunchables. These burritos are like sodas filled to the brim. It's so fat that sometimes the bag breaks if there are too many burritos in the bag. But if you don't like burritos, there are also tacos, combination plates, fries nachos, tortas, tostadas, quesadillas, enchiladas, and kids meals as well. So if you're a fan of Mexican food, this is the place for you.
I just know that there are eight locations in SoCal.
The one I go to is 5894 Lincoln Ave, Cypress, CA 90630.
If you're still unsure with my review, check them out on Yelp. Hope you guys try this place because it's one that is so worth the wait.

Hey guys! I just went to the Dragon Boat Festival yesterday to watch our high school team JAWS, compete against other dragon boat racing teams from all over the world. There were teams from China, Japan, and so many more. It was so interesting to watch because it's such an intense sport. Not only were they going up against other teams; they were racing against adult teams. Although I did not stay for the entire festival, it was super fun. Aside from the races, there were food trucks and performances from martial arts masters and traditional dances. It was a great way to get in with the whole cultural blend of the event. It was on Saturday and Sunday and it started at around 8 or 9 am. I only stayed for a little bit but I did take a lot of pictures. I will post them to the gallery later. So if you ever want to visit a dragon boat festival, just visit their website.
To be honest, I really enjoyed the festival and if anyone ever wants to join a team and is a high schooler in the Cerritos-Artesia area, there's always the JAWS team.
I know this is really late for a weekly update but I kind of forgot about it. Sorry but enjoy reading about what I did last week.
On Monday, I was at academy when I got the news; we are going to camp on Tuesday. Camp is an annual trip to Big Bear Lake where the kids going to 6th grade and up get to go to a cabin and hang out for 3 days. It is always fun to go and get away from the city. Anyway, it was supposed to be next week but some students had registration at that time and most of them wanted to go so it was changed to this week. So we were told to ask our parents if we could go to camp in the few hours we had and get everything ready for the next day.
On Tuesday, it was time for camp. Let's just say there was a lake behind the cabin so we just hung out there for most of the day or downstairs where there was a ping pong table. It was a really great three days away from home but I did miss my bed. I hated sleeping with about eight girls in one small room. At least I got to sleep on the bed. We stayed until Thursday and it was more fun this year compared to the previous three years because we actually left the cabin to go to the park. It was within walking distance but there were many hills and it was so tiring. At least I had fun tho.
When we came back from camp, it was almost two o' clock. We had lunch and then most of the kids left. I unfortunately had to stay there with my sister until 6 pm. We were the last people there and I really wanted to go. My mom came to pick us up and then on Friday we just stayed home. We've been out for too long and we needed a break from traveling.
And that's it for that week. Sorry again for the late update. Hope all of you guys are having a great summer and then if you guys are going back to school soon, good luck with the new school year.
So I know I've been posting about my trip but I just haven't had time to post about what I have done after my trip. During these past few weeks, I have been going to summer school where I have English and math in the mornings and then in the afternoon, we do activities like book club, playing tennis, learning Spanish, and go swimming. Personally, I don't go to learn Spanish anymore since I have already learned what is being taught so I go to a hospital to volunteer with the patients and then I go and play tennis on Wednesdays. Also, I was going to go to Disneyland with some friends but the plans got cancelled due to the lack of attendance. So instead, we went to Mother's Beach on Friday. It isn't really a beach; it's more of a river.
Also, I've downloaded the new Pokémon GO app and so far, I'm at level 5. I also joined Team Valor today! If you guys haven't got the game yet, it's pretty fun and you should give it a try. I haven't really done anything interesting since my trip to New Orleans but I will find more time to blog since now I have wifi.
Anyway, that's it for this week and I hope you like my future posts. (Since this one's not that great.)
Finally we got to Alabama where we did...NOTHING! We got to Alabama at around 6 so we just ate dinner at Makarios Kabobs & Grill, a Mediterranean restaurant and it was really good. Especially since it was a change for food from what I normally eat. I ordered a chicken wrap and some onion rings. It was just great. And then on our way to the hotel, we got lost. It was really scary since there was barely any light and then we found it. It's really funny because it's called Microtel Inn & Suites. The next day we had breakfast at Waffle House. I shared with everyone because most of the meals we ordered were huge. We also got double some of the meals for the price of one. It's a win win.
That was it for my journey through the south. It was really interesting and lots of fun.
In Tennessee, there is a lot to do because 1. it is the home of rock and roll and 2. the center of the civil rights movement. When we first got to Tennessee, we went to Graceland, the home of the great legend Elvis Presley. It was truly breath-taking. We got there at around 10 and had a little hunt. First we went to the museums to see his cars, outfits, pictures, and most of his personal belongings. Then we had a tour of his mansion at 2 but since we had time before that tour, we had some ice cream. The lady was so nice, she gave us a free scoop of ice cream extra. I got chocolate ice cream and it was great for that time because it was so hot. Anyway, after we ate the ice cream, we went on the tour of Elvis Presley's mansion. It is really nice. There's so many things in there. The Presley family are buried there and open for the public to see too. After the tour, I went to get a chocolate milk shake from the ice cream palor again and since the lady remembered me from the last time, she gave me extra on the milk shake too. But overall, the whole tour took so long that we were there for about 5 hours. That was it for the day 6.
On day 7, we first had breakfast at the Cracker Barrel. To be honest, I didn't really like it; I think it's just because I had too much Southern food in the past 6 days so I didn't want it. The service there is great though. Everyone is super nice and it's just a great way to start the day with friendly people. After breakfast, we went to Sun Records and the Rock & Soul Studio in Memphis. At Sun Records, we got to see the studio where current bands like Maroon 5 still come to record after tour hours. At the Rock & Soul Studio, it was more of a self guided tour. After that, we went to the National Civil Rights Museum. OMG that took forever and it is even worse when you're hungry. We were all getting hungry so we literally just walked through everything like it was an amazing race (Hunter's English project). We walked to Double J Smokehouse & Saloon for lunch since it was nearby. I got the BBQ pizza and sweet iced tea. The pizza was really good but get the smaller one if you're ever there. The crust is not like the ones in California. After lunch, we went to our hotel until later at night. We headed to the city to check out Beale Street. It's not much but there are mostly restaurants and bars. It was getting late so we headed back to rest.
Day 8 was another day with a tour but it was raining. It wasn't the good kind though. Usually when it rains, it's cold and somewhat refreshing. In Tennessee, it's hot and it makes you feel sticky and it's just disgusting. We checked out Studio B in Nashville and it was just like the National Civil Rights Museum. We got out as fast as possible and when to eat lunch at Bajo Sexto, a restaurant next to the museum. I got the chicken quesadilla and it was alright. After that, we went to the hotel and back out for some thai food. I was loving the thai food because I needed something different from all the Southern food. After dinner, we headed back to hotel.
On day 9, we had breakfast at Yeast Nation, a local bakery and I had a blueberry muffin. Then we went to the Ryman Auditorium and it is just beautiful. We got to see backstage and the dressing room where famous performers used to be in to prep for the show. Then we went to Yummy Thai: Asian Kitchen which let me tell you, was not as yummy as you think it will be. Also, NEVER GET BOBA FROM THERE IT TASTE LIKE GRIND BOBA PUT BACK TOGETHER. Anyway just don't get boba there. After that, we went to the Jack Daniel Distillery where I smelled so whiskey. I don't know why but it smelled like bread, apples, and fried banana to me. Then my dad told me that's what rum smells like. It was really hot during the tour but it was interesting. Also I got some great lemonade. Then we headed to Alabama.
