YAY IT'S SPRING BREAK!!!!! I want to sleep in, relax, have fun, and not care able school you know?
But then there's the harsh reality of having midterms after spring break. That means that there's tests that need to be studied for and projects that have to be worked on over spring break. And unfortunately for me, I just so happen to have tests and projects due in all of my classes...well, all of my classes except for PE where we have to run a mile but that's all.
Although there are comps (midterms) after spring break, it does not mean I have to study ALL week long. So yesterday, I first went to the library to work on my English project for an hour. Then I went to Heritage Park for some outdoors times and exercise by climbing and jumping on the play sets because my academy teacher did not allow us to go on the Island. Previously, a student was jumping on the rocks on the island and broke his toe nail and it started bleeding so we are no longer allowed to go on the Island. There we had Costco pizza for lunch and then we went back to the academy. We just hung out until the students from the Cypress schools came because their spring break was last week and they have school now. Since most of the students were from the ABC School District, they were just playing outside with bubbles. I was supposed to be working in my classroom but 1) I did not have enough battery on my laptop to do anything, 2) it's spring break so I don't have homework, and 3) I would just be sitting there doing nothing while my sister was outside having the time of her life... with bubbles. So I decided to ditch class and play with the bubbles outside. I was told to go to my classroom before but I didn't listen (because I'm such a bad student). They let me play anyway. It was only my class that was working too (because my teacher is the goody two shoes that everyone hates). After playing with the bubbles, I texted my mom from my laptop with the small amount of battery I had left to come and pick me and my sister up early because we were not doing anything. After she picked us up, we went to Costco and Trader Joe's.
And that's how I started my spring break. Hope your spring break is just as entertaining, or better. I'll see you back at school on Monday everyone (from Whitney).
OHMIGOD!!!! So yesterday was the (soft) opening day for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and I coincidentally went to Universal Studios on the same day. [A soft opening day means the area is open with only a few of the attractions open, the grand opening will provide more than what I experienced.] It was the last day to use my annual pass, so my family decided to go there instead of sending us to academy after school. So I didn't know what I was doing until I got into the park. My sister and I overheard a park assistance talking to someone about going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, so we went to go check it out. When we got there, we were so excited that we literally ran inside. (Which is strange for me, who has not read a single book out of the Harry Potter series. Sorry everyone.)
When I entered, the first time I saw what the Hogwarts Express. Then the conductor greets you when you enter. I was so mesmerized by everything. From outside, all anyone could see what the top of the school but once you are inside, it is amazing. First, I tried out the Flight of the Hippogriff, a roller coaster that goes round and round similar to the Sierra Sidewinder at Knott's Berry Farm. After that, I went on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. At first, I thought it was going to be the same old 4D simulation that is the star of the park, but it wasn't. There was an actual car that carries four people each and as you go through the ride, the car spins you so sometimes you can be upside down. I loved that and thought it was better than the other 4D rides at Universal Studios. By the time I finished riding that, I had some butter beer and a turkey leg. It was the best way to end my annual pass to Universal Studios.
There will be pictures in the gallery if you would like to see what the inside of the area looks like. I hope you all get to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter when it has its grand opening on April 7, 2016.
**By the way, there are wands being sold where you have to find 11 magic windows and if you wave an interactive wand in front of the window, it will make you look like a real wizard.
Hey guys! It's Election Week at Whitney and everyone has been campaigning nonstop. There have been posters all over campus... literally you can't go down a single hallway without seeing a campaigning poster. Last year, election week was not as heated as it is this year. There are five students running to be the class of 2018's vice president. Last year, almost every student running were unopposed so about every student got the position they wanted. So at lunch today, there were class meetings so all the candidates running for class positions could give their speeches to persuade the class for their vote to be in next year's class cabinet. Tomorrow, the students can vote for next year's class cabinet and then on Friday, the results will be announced. Good luck to all of the students and tomorrow is a spirit day so wear green everyone!!!
Hey guys so yesterday, I attended the third annual TEDxWhitneyHigh Conference and this was my first TEDx conference. Speaking honestly, it was truly a new experience for me and it made me realize stuff that I never thought of before like artificial intelligence and sitting too much is bad for your health. It was an eye opening experience and along with that, I saw people from different schools like Cerritos and University High School. Even though there was an Oxford speaker, no one hated on him and that's good. There was such an amazing crowd and even though there were some technical difficulties with the slides, it was still great. If anyone plans to attend a TEDx conference in the future, it will be a great show.
Well, today was an interesting day. I started the morning with a power-filled breakfast prepared by my sister. (Thank you very much to you sis.) Then we went to Gahr High School for the track meet and at first it was really quiet and empty. I thought it was going to be like that for a long time but when the running events started, people started cheering and I was screaming my head off. My voice cracked a bajillion times. I also got to see a few of my friends from middle school. It felt good to be there to support the track team because they all did their best today and it really showed. Congrats to all of the people who placed and got medals. After that, I went home to get my library books. I went to return them and in exchange, I got some movies since I'm old enough to check them out now. I got in the car and my dad said "I told you to get books. disappointed sigh" and then we went home.
After a few hours of watching Degrassi on Netflix, my mom reminded me that I wanted to run so I changed and got to running. I ran for about two miles and then went to Ralph's because my mom wanted to buy some fruits. I just ran to the closest park and back. On the way back, I ran into another friend from middle school. (haha see what I did there...nvm) For dinner, I had a salad because I was feeling like eating healthy. After that I just went to work on my Spanish project and watching more Degrassi. That was it for my day.
Originally we were going to go to Universal Studios but I told my mom I wanted to go to the track meet. In my defense, I didn't know we were going to go to Universal Studios. If my mom told me I probably would not have gone to the track meet. Sorry all you track people.
Today, there was a basketball game at lunch with the faculty versus the class of 2018. (the sophomores <-- hey that's my class) It was an hour long game and just from watching, all the players were playing hard. During the first half, the sophomores were in the lead by about 2-3 points, but after the second half started, the faculty took the lead with 13 POINTS!?!?!? WHAT?!?!?! The sophomores closed the large gap towards the end of the game. The final score was 50-56, and the faculty won. The gap could have been three points if one of the teachers did not make the last three pointer. The sophomores also made a three pointer at the end, but it wasn't counted because it was after the buzzer. It was a great game to watch. At first, it was quiet and once the ball went into the basket, the crowd got louder. Although the gym was not filled with students, it was really fun to watch. Maybe next time, I'll play too. I also took some pictures so they are in the gallery of you would like to check them. Thank you for reading and I'll post something soon.
HOLA AMIGOS!!! I have important information to share with you. If you happen to have nothing to do this coming Saturday, you're in luck!!! There is the ABC School District Track Meet this Saturday at Gahr High School. Field events start at 9 AM and the running events start at 10:30 AM. In my opinion, the running events are the most entertaining events at the track meets because you will be able to see how incredibly fast your friends can run and it just blows you away. Anyway, the track meet goes on until 3 PM.
Also, if you happen to have nothing to do after the track meet, you should go watch Whitney High School's House of Houdini Talent Show!!! Tickets are $15 and I heard it was a MAGICAL show filled with amazing performances and mind-blowing talents. The show starts at 7 PM in the Whitney High School MAC Theater. It is on Friday and Saturday, and the doors open at 6:30 PM.
That's all I have for today. Enjoy these two upcoming events!!!
How do you like the new background picture? I changed the color to green because this month is the month of Saint Patrick's Day. That is why everything is green. I hope you guys don't get pinched on St. Patrick's Day for not wearing green. Well, I don't think schools allow pinching anymore because some students pinch too hard. Oh well. Hope you had a great month of February and pink because now it's time for the Irish to take over and make it green. (no not with money)
